From September 15, 2022, the prestigious Felix Schoeller Photo Award will be starting a new round. For the sixth time since 2013, the Felix Schoeller Group is inviting all professional photographers worldwide to apply in three categories for the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2023, the Best Work by an Emerging Photographer and the German Peace Prize for Photography. A total of 30,000 euros in prize money will be awarded. The closing date for entries is January 15, 2023.
For the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2023, professional photographers are invited to apply in three categories: “Portrait”, “Photojournalism” and “Sustainability”. A prize money of 5,000 euros will be awarded in each of the three competition categories.
The category “Best Work by an Emerging Photographer” is intended to recognize special talent in photography: Photographers in their studies, professional training or photo assistance. The best work in this category, in which there are no thematic restrictions, will be rewarded by the jury with the award for the “Best Work by an Emerging Photographer”, also worth 5,000 euros.

Pursuit of peace is in corporate DNA
“In 2023, the German Peace Prize for Photography takes on even greater significance: Together with our hometown of Osnabrück, we present this award – at the place where the Peace of Westphalia was concluded 375 years ago. This anniversary reminds us that peace is more important than ever, especially in the current political situation. As a company, we see ourselves as having a social responsibility to underscore the importance of peace. Making the pursuit of peace a photographic theme and communicating it is a conscious symbiosis of our corporate roots with the special role played by the cities of Münster and Osnabrück in promoting peace in Europe,” says Hans-Christoph Gallenkamp, CEO of the Felix Schoeller Group.
The German Peace Prize for Photography honors works that deal photographically and conceptually with the theme of “peace”. The definition of the term “peace” is to be explicitly broad: From peace between peoples and countries to peaceful coexistence in the city and country, in families or in groups, to the pictorial representation of the inner peace of individuals. The winner of the German Peace Prize for Photography will receive prize money of 10,000 euros.

Competition starts on September 15, 2022
The submitted works in all competition categories will be evaluated by a competent, independent jury chaired by Michael Dannenmann, the director of the Museumsquartier Osnabrück Nils-Arne Kässens and other highly qualified members. The winners will be
announced and honored at a festive awards ceremony on May 4, 2023. The award-winning photographs as well as the works of the nominees will then be on display in an extensive exhibition at the Museumquartier Osnabrück.
From September 15, 2022, all interested parties can enter the Felix Schoeller Photo Award 2023, the prize for the best work by young photographers, and the German Peace Prize for Photography. The deadline for entries is January 15, 2023. All information including uploads at https://www.felix-schoeller-photoaward.com/en/home
