Wipe-clean menus on E-PHOTO® papers
It was Thomas Landwehr at M&E printers who came up with the idea. “We had been looking for quite some time for a good solution that would be both flexible and fast,” he explains. The background: the menus have to be individually printed in small print runs for the restaurants in the different towns – often at very short notice. In daily use they have to withstand dirt and moisture. Their customer is now extremely satisfied with the menus on E-PHOTO® papers.
The printers also like to use the Felix Schoeller Group‘s specialty papers to digitally print brochures and catalogues, especially if borderless prints are called for. Because, like in photo books, you get whitebreak if you use conventional papers for this application. With E-PHOTO® papers whitebreak is simply not a problem. “It is also very easy to use UV varnishes to further upgrade E-PHOTO® papers,” Landwehr adds.
Unique surface finish for brilliant digital printing results
Once digitally printed, conventional papers are usually laminated with a thin film to ensure high-quality, lasting results. With E-PHOTO® the base paper is coated with polyethylene (PE) on both sides during production, which gives a unique waterproof and dirt-repellent surface without the need for additional converting. “In this way, customers cut out one production stage and avoid the need for additional logistics, which enables them to save time and be more flexible,” says Jens Krüger, area sales manager for Felix Schoeller Digital Media, summarising the key benefits. This genuine photo paper for liquid toner systems also has outstanding folding and creasing properties and is guaranteed to show no sign of whitebreak.
These product characteristics have made E-PHOTO® the go-to choice for brilliant reproductions of digitally printed, large-format photos, brochures and photo books. The premium photo paper has excellent runnability qualities and toner adhesion and comes in a vast range of options: it can be supplied in roll or sheet format with matt, lustre, glossy, metallic and pyramid surfaces, printable on one side or both sides. It is available in grammages of 135 to 290 grams. All the papers have been developed and qualified for HP Indigo and open up opportunities for numerous new digital printing applications. Furthermore, unlike pure film products, E-PHOTO® papers have FSC certification. E-PHOTO® is therefore an ideal combination of all the benefits of genuine photo paper and those of a film product.
Incidentally, E-PHOTO® paper scored top marks when tested by the Papiertechnische Stiftung (PTS). PTS joined forces with Felix Schoeller Group to develop a standard method for testing whitebreak behaviour. Tested alongside other papers, E-PHOTO® paper emerged as the clear winner.
